Well, I know I just wrote “Part 1″ of my horse history, so logically “Part 2″ should be my next entry…but before that comes a few announcements.
My dad and I left to catch a matinee of Alice in Wonderland this afternoon. I had been wanting to go, and he had said he would take me, and it finally happened. Oh, man…that was the best movie I’ve seen in a year. Most of the people in the theater left when the credits start to roll, but my dad and I stay through the credits because…that’s just what we do.
Dad said that the movie was like “Narnia turned sideways” and I thought his description clinched it perfectly. My praises for Wonderland…
1. The characters were all cast perfectly. I applaud the person who did the casting – especially for Alice. Mia Wasikowska was just as distracted and sweet as Alice should be. I loved her and cheered for her. Johnny Depp was great too, and so was Stephen Fry. I got a kick out of the Red Queen – her poutiness was perfect. And as for the White Queen…I’m sorry, but I did not like her…she’s too sweet. Makes me think she’s really as bad as the Red Queen is
2. There’s so many good quotes in there. My favorite is the “six impossible things before breakfast”, and the one about all good people being mad.
3. My favorite part, hands down, is when Alice gives the bandersnatch his eye back and then makes friends with him
My dad’s favorite part is when the Mad Hatter recites the “Jabberwocky” poem in a Scottish accent.
I can’t wait until this comes out on DVD, so I can own it.
And also – HAPPY EASTER everybody! We flew kites today and will be coloring eggs tonight.
Jesus is risen. God bless you!
And now, I had better go “galumphing back” to my duties….
